Moon Area Educator Grant

The Moon Township Garden Club Scholarship

Each year MTGC offers a scholarship of up to $2,500 to graduating high school seniors and college/university students from Moon and Crescent Townships. A key requirement is that students must be planning to or are already studying biology, horticulture, wildlife science, environmental concerns, botany, landscape design, rural and urban planning, sustainable engineering, or a related field.

Applications for 2023 are due March 15. ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES. Moon Area high school students can obtain application forms through the high school guidance office. All other potential applicants can receive application material by emailing jdcanan@verizon.net

The Moon Township Garden Club Educator Grant

Awards up to $300.00 granted on a rolling basis.

Moon Area School District staff may apply on a rolling basis for grants to execute a hands-on student project in the fields of Biology, Botany, Ecology, Entomology, Environmental Concerns/Sciences, Green Architecture/ Engineering, Microbiology, Wildlife Science, Zoology, and/or other related or allied subjects.

Friends of the Library

For the past several years the MTGC has made donations to the Friends of the Library to purchase gardening books and periodicals. Funds are also dedicated to supporting gardening and environmental programming for all ages.

Community Philanthropy

MTGC gives funding support to locally based organizations involved in gardening or environmental projects including the Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.
