|The March meeting was a great season opener! Getting back in touch with each other at the first meeting of our 2nd century was a perfect match with our Garden Club’s theme for the new year “In Touch with Nature!” In spite of the surprise snowstorm, 38 members braved the cold temperatures and all the “white stuff” to attend the March meeting. |
Modeling the 3Rs of waste management-Reduce, Reuse, Recycle-the officers, as hosts for this first monthly program, decorated Robin Hill using their own houseplants and decorative items. Some items were also donated.
Hand-crafted items on display included glass flowers, a glass birdbath, and decorated Mason jars filled with birdseed. These items stirred much excitement and discussion for future craft workshops.
Projected on the new screen with the new projector was a warm welcome to all along with an invitation to get in touch with nature this year by observing nature, protecting the pollinators, planting natives, removing invasive plants, and eating more plants!
The business meeting provided the opportunity for all the standing committee chairs to explain their projects for the year ahead. A look back to Our Blooming Centennial Year was provided by a slide show looped to run during the luncheon.
Members served themselves from the buffet table overflowing with yummy appetizers, scrumptious sides and salads, and tasty entrees contributed by the membership. Delicious desserts were created by the officers to complete the meal. Thanks to all for your appetizing contributions! We are off to an exciting start of another fulfilling year of gardening endeavors.
